The audit log

See who changed what and when — roles, members, settings, rates and timesheets.

The audit log records every important change in your organisation: who made it, when, on whose behalf, and what changed from and to. You need the View the audit log permission.

What is recorded

  • Opening the organisation after signing in.
  • Creating, changing and deleting roles — including which permissions were added or removed.
  • Changing a member's roles, and removing members.
  • Changing organisation settings, including locking and unlocking them.
  • Creating, changing and archiving clients and cost centres, and changes to client contacts (which fields changed, never the details).
  • Creating and changing projects, tasks and project teams.
  • Submitting, withdrawing, approving, sending back and reopening timesheet weeks, and every change made to someone else's timesheet (before and after, and whose it was).
  • As they arrive: rates, every timesheet submission, approval, rejection and change made on someone else's behalf, write-offs and exports.

Entries can never be changed or deleted — not by administrators, and not by the application itself. That is what makes the log trustworthy when a bill is questioned.

Finding an entry

  1. Open Administration → Audit log.
  2. Narrow it down by Area (for example Roles), Person, and a From and To date.
  3. Select Filter. Clear shows everything again.

The newest entries are first, 25 to a page. Select Show changes on an entry to see the values before and after.

Good to know

  • Times are shown in UK time.
  • Passwords, security codes and other secrets are never recorded, even when they change.
  • "On behalf of" shows when someone acted for another person — for example a manager submitting a consultant's timesheet.
