Clients

Cost centres

Set up the cost centres your finance system uses, so work is reported in the right place.

A cost centre is where the cost of work is reported, using the code from your finance system. Clients have a default cost centre, and projects and tasks will use one too. You need the Create and change clients and cost centres permission. Open Administration → Cost centres.

Adding a cost centre

  1. Select New cost centre.
  2. Enter the Code exactly as your finance system uses it, for example CC-100. Codes can use letters, digits, spaces and . _ / -. Each code can be used only once; cc-100 and CC-100 count as the same code.
  3. Enter a Name, and optionally a Description.
  4. Select Save.

The list shows each cost centre's code, name, and how many clients use it by default.

Archiving

Select Archive when a cost centre is no longer used. It is no longer offered for new clients and projects. Anything that already uses it keeps it, so reports stay correct. Choose Archived under Show to find it again, then select Restore.

Every change is recorded in the audit log.
